Hard Cider Science

July 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Previously, in the U.S. hard cider pretty much all tasted the same, sweet and apple-y, but no longer! Hard cider is having a renaissance, and varieties from bone dry, to sweet, to bitter are hitting the shelves! How can one species of apple lead to so many delicious varieties of cider? Or why can we detect grapefruit, melon, or caramel in something that is made from an apple? Simple – the answer is science! Join the Intoxicating Professor: Heather McKechney, NYK Beverage University Instructor and chemistry professor, in a celebration cider as we explore the science behind these questions and more. You’ll impress your friends and rule trivia night with your nerdy tidbits of cider knowledge. MENU: Sample five ciders with a cheese pairing plate.
